Located on the South facing
exterior wall of the house and accessed from a door in the garage, the Spa
is a favorite place to relax and rejuvenate from a busy day on the farm.
Watch TV from the hot tub, enjoy the pleasure of the sauna’s
invigorating heat.
A
great party asset too, the vinyl lined redwood tub (6’ in diameter 4’
deep) is large enough for 6 people. The curved redwood chair rail mounted
on the deck on the east side of the tub is a comfortable spot to cool off.
The
5’ by 6’ sauna is unique in design with two thermopane glass windows
giving it a cheerful, open aspect. A
hidden slide out bench provides extra seating for guests.
The
stone wall in the back is a beautiful accent. The fan in the 9000
watt stainless steel heater heats the sauna up to temperature quickly.
The
½ bath off the kitchen has access into the garage or the kitchen,
providing a changing room just a short distance from the door into the
Spa. Use the 36 inch square free standing shower stall in the spa to cool
off or to shower afterward. Radiant
heat can warm the slate floor in winter using hot water from the outside
wood fired boiler.

Newly
re-glazed with 8mm twin-wall polycarbonate UV resistant greenhouse
material (with a 10 year warrantee) the translucent covering lets over 78%
of the available sunlight into the spa.
During this reconditioning the wood framing in the knee wall was
replaced with long lasting pressure treated wood.
The water pump, Jacuzzi air pump and water filter, are original equipment
and are working properly. There are two methods of heating the hot tub
water: An electric heater
and/or a heat exchanger connected to the outside wood-fired boiler. A
drain valve is installed below the tub that allows it to drain quickly for
cleaning and it is easily refilled with an attached water line.

Hidden behind a custom made redwood grill is a two speed 24 inch fan and
shutter (photo of grill). The wall opposite contains a vent and shutter
combination. These features
are controlled electronically, allowing air to be drawn through the spa to
cool it when the sun raises temperature in the Spa above the set point for
the houseplant collection or the garden plant starts.
During the summer we cover the Spa with 60% shade cloth and enjoy
relaxing in the room using the unheated water in the hot tub to cool off.
